International Commerce Club Scholarship 2008

This year the International Commerce Club will award a minimum of one $500.00 scholarship. We hope to receive several applications. Eligible candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • Applicant must be an ICC member, spouse, child, or grandchild of a member.

  • Applicant must be in an accredited college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program, and submit a copy of a recent college/university transcript.

  • Applicant must have completed at least one year in an accredited college or university with at least a "B" average. (3.0 equivalent)

  • Special consideration will be given to a student in an International Business or a business related major, e.g. transportation or logistics.

  • Applicant must submit a completed ICC scholarship application (attached) with an essay of minimum 250 words and maximum of 1000 words, double-spaced. The essay should explain why the applicant has chosen his/her field of study and outline his/her career objectives. The essay topics to choose from this year are:
  1. Can you identify 3 areas that are cost effective and feasible that would improve environmental impact of marine terminal operations? Please describe and outline how they would be implemented.

  2. In the past several years there are been an increase in the number of carriers offering all water service to the USA from Asia. Write about the pros and cons of importers utilizing all water services (Panama Canal/Suez Canal)

February 2007 Baruch College
The division of Continuing And Professional Studies (CAPS) of Baruch College is offering members in good standing of the ICC a discount of 10% off of the tuition fee as listed in the current CAPS catalog for the ITOP (International Trade Operations & Procedures) classes. Also a separate discount would be offered of 5% off of the tuition fee listed in the CAPS catalog for the ITOP (International Trade Operations & Procedures) classes to employees of companies who are members of the ICC, but the individual applying to CAPS is not a direct member. Proof of direct membership will be required.
